When You Arrive
Head upstairs to reception in the northwest corner of the mall. A staff member will ask about your climbing experience, confirm your waiver, take payment, and help with rental equipment.
Orientation
Before you start climbing, staff will give you a safety orientation where you’ll learn the gym rules, how to safely use the bouldering area, and how our routes are graded.
Children and caregivers: Parents or legal guardians must sign waivers for anyone under 19. Caregivers of children under 16 must attend the orientation and actively supervise them. Full supervision and youth-access rules are in the Day-use FAQs below.
Belaying
Rope climbers must be accompanied by a belayer certified by Top Out. If you already know how to belay, staff will give you a free belay test. There is no minimum age for climbing on the rope wall, but belayers must be at least 14.
If you do not know how to belay or need a refresher, sign up for a belay lesson.
Day-Use FAQs
Can children and youth climb?
Yes. There is no minimum climbing age when the supervision requirements below are followed. A parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver for every participant under 19. Climbers under 16 must be accompanied and actively supervised by a responsible adult aged 19 or older. Climbers aged 16 and older may climb unattended during public hours. A person must be at least 14 and certified to belay.
How many children can one adult supervise?
Bouldering: Ages 6 and under, 1:1 with the adult within arm’s reach; ages 7–9, 1:2 with the adult within arm’s reach; ages 10–15, 1:4 with the adult nearby and actively supervising.
Top roping: Climbing and belaying are naturally 1:1. Climbers under 16 need an adult belaying or supervising. Belayers must be at least 14, belay certified, and no more than approximately 75 lb lighter than the climber.
Does a supervising adult pay admission?
There is no charge for an adult who is only belaying or supervising. Anyone who climbs or accesses the gym during member-only hours must hold the appropriate pass or membership.
How long can I stay?
There is no time limit for drop-in climbing during public hours, but visitors must finish when the gym closes to the public. Drop-in visitors cannot continue climbing during unstaffed member-only hours.
